Commissioner Gordon Makes Duo A Trio

VENTURASam Miller shot a 4-over 148 in the two-round SCIAC # 1 event at Olivas Links GC on Feb. 17-18, leading three Oxy men's golfers that finished in the top 20.

Miller, a junior co-captain from San Francisco, placed 14th overall with rounds of 77 and 71.

Dylan Jirsa, a senior co-captain from Estes Park, Colo., shot 150 with rounds of 72 and 78 for a 20th overall finish.

Miller and Jirsa have become famous for being Oxy's dyanmic duo, placing near the top of nearly ever SCIAC leaderboard for the past three years. If Jirsa, the 2017 SCIAC Player of the Year, has been Batman, Miller has been a close second as Robin.

The duo may have more company and a new character joining to make it a trio. Henry Gordon, who the team has begun calling Commissioner, had one of his best weekends of his career, shooting 149 with rounds of 76 and 73 for a 17th-place finish.

"Henry played solid golf, but was a little disappointed because he could have shot even lower," Oxy head coach Will Morris said. "When he plays well we can be an even higher ranked team."

Cole Warner was Oxy's fourth best in 36th with solid rounds of 78 and 77, Jack Peden shot 82 on Day 1 and then showed significant improvement, dropping seven strokes to shoot 75 on Day 2.

Next Round: The Tigers return to action on March 16 vs. Macalester College at Sierra La Verne GC.
