Hanley, McCoy earn All-SCIAC honors
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 3, 2010) Following the 2009-10 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference mens basketball season a pair of Occidental College Tigers landed on All-SCIAC teams with Jack Hanley earning First Team honors and Deshun McCoy making the Second Team as the only freshman to earn league recognition.

Down to the line, Tigers come up short
CLAREMONT, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2010) Trailing by 10 points at halftime, the Tigers erased that deficit with a 12-1 run to open the second half of action, but despite eight ties and six lead changes, Occidental College saw its season come to an end at the hands of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags before a packed house at Ducey Gymnasium tonight.

Playoff Picture: Basketball teams set to play in SCIAC Tournaments
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 6, 2010) Both teams finished their respective 2010 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference seasons tied. The womens team placed first, with the mens team knotted in a three-way tie for second. A share of the womens SCIAC title, put the Tigers as the No. 1 seed and they will host No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday, while the men, who dropped to the No. 4 seed will be at CMS on Friday to play the No. 1 seeded Stags.

Tigers fall in finale
CLAREMONT, Calif. (Feb. 23, 2010) In the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference finale there was excitement all over the league. With playoff pairings being discussed for the last 72 hours with every what-if scenario brought to the table, it all panned out tonight in three different gymnasiums. For starters, the Occidental College Tigers had their destiny in their own hands. With a win, they would have clinched the No. 2 seed and home court advantage for the first round of the SCIAC Post Season Tournament. Unfortunately, Pomona-Pitzer stole that opportunity from the Black and Orange, with a 55-54 victory, shooting the Sagehens from the No. 5 seed to No. 2 when all was said and done, leaving Oxy as No. 4. The Tigers loss, coupled with Cal Lutheran and La Verne wins over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Redlands, respectively, set the table for Friday night.

Senior night sensation: Tigers beat Bulldogs
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 17, 2010) Tonight for the final time in the regular season, four seniors dressed in the Black and Orange to represent Occidental College on the hardwood in Rush Gymnasium. The outcome was a sensational one for a squad who is still competing for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Post Season Tournament berth. They took another step towards achieving that goal tonight with a 72-65 victory over the visiting University of Redlands before 1300 energetic fans in Rush Gymnasium.

Claws come out as Tigers face Leopards
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 17, 2010) As the final week of the 2010 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season approached, the Occidental College mens basketball team, sitting in third place, saw themselves with an opportunity to advance to the Post Season Tournament as they sat in third place. Tonight, they took one more step in the right direction as they defeated the University of La Verne 79-62 as the cats battled on the hardwood.

Tigers run by Caltech
PASADENA, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2010) The Caltech Beavers were thinking upset tonight, and for the first 10 minutes of this Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game, they made everyone in the building into believers. Except for the Tigers, breaking up a one point game by ending the first half on 24-3 run that ended the upset bid, and kept the black and orange in the hunt for a playoff berth with the 72-41 road win.

Kingsmen catch Tigers
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 10, 2010) The lead changed 17 times and was tied 11 times as the Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen and Occidental College Tigers were never separated by more than seven points in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference showdown tonight at Rush Gymnasium. CLU walked away with a 71-67 victory as the Tigers dropped their second straight game.

Stags too strong for Tigers
CLAREMONT, Calif. (Feb. 6, 2010) In a battle between Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals, the Occidental College Tigers and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags fought it out on the hardwood. While the Black and Orange controlled the game for most of the first half, the Maroon and Gold stole the lead in the second to earn a 60-51 win over the Tigers to remain atop the standings alone while Oxy falls into a third place tie.

(Jan. 30, 2010) Following a three-game road trip the Tigers returned to the friendly confines of Rush Gymnasium where the Black Hole and the mens basketball team came to make some noise. After opening up a 19-4 cushion 10 minutes into the game the Black and Orange took a comfortable 30-14 lead into the locker room before holding on for a 64-56 victory over Pomona-Pitzer in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action tonight.

(Jan. 27, 2010) Leading by 10 points early, the Tigers saw a one-point lead disappear with seconds to play as the University of Redlands used a long jumper with nine seconds remaining in regulation to steal a 71-70 victory from Occidental College in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Currier Gym.

Conti, Hanley solid at stripe for Tigers in triumph over La Verne
LA VERNE, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2010) When you look at the stat sheet from tonights Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference between the University of La Verne and Occidental, the Leopards held the advantage in shooting percentage and rebounding, but the difference maker was the Tigers performance at the free-throw line, going 20-for-22 overall with Jack Hanley and Huston Conti shooting a combined 14-for-14 as the Black and Orange defeated ULV 71-67 at the Frantz Athletic Court.

(Jan. 13, 2010) An undefeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record and round one of league play was on the line for both teams tonight as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps travelled to Eagle Rock with an identical 9-3 overall, 1-0 SCIAC record, as Occidental College. A slow start for the Tigers, who shot just 27% from the field in the first half was too much to overcome as the Stags snapped the Tigers four-game win streak with a 66-58 win at Rush Gymnasium tonight before an energetic crowd.

Anderson, Leider combine for 42 in win on NYE
IRVINE, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2009) On the last day of 2009, the Occidental College Tigers posted a 72-67 victory over Ripon College at the Surf City Classic hosted by Concordia University, Irvine. Oxys combination of Sean Anderson and Eric Leider joined forces for 42 points in the win as Anderson, the Tigers 6-foot-10 center, was named to the All-Tournament team.

Tigers return to winning ways
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2009) Following an 11-day hiatus from the hardwood, the Occidental College mens basketball team travelled to Riverside to play the La Sierra University Golden Eagles. Similarly to the first meeting between the teams this season, Oxy finished on top, shooting 65% from the field in the second half en route to an 82-57 victory this afternoon. The Tigers defeated the Golden Eagles 93-76 on Dec. 3 and have completed the season sweep.

Tigers strike first, Mustangs earn victory
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 19, 2009) A tenacious pack of Tigers took to the hardwood today as Occidental College hosted the Division I Southern Methodist University Mustangs as the teams met for the first time in program history. Oxy lit up the scoreboard first and the teams were tied seven minutes in, but the Mustangs turned an early deficit into a 77-49 victory over the home Tigers in Rush Gymnasium before 1100 energetic fans this afternoon.

Tigers use second half to improve game against CSU, Fullerton
FULLERTON, Calif. (Dec. 12, 2009) If the mens basketball game at Titan Gym on the campus of California State University, Fullerton was just the second half, Occidental College would have won 40-39. Unfortunately, though, a shaky start and nine unforced turnovers in the first half hurt the Tigers as the Division I Titans defeated the Black and Orange 97-59 on a rainy Saturday night before 1,155 fans.

Tigers nearly top century mark in win over Eagles
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 1, 2009) The Occidental College mens basketball team welcomed in December with a 98-55 win over West Coast Baptist College. For the second time in as many meetings, the Tigers came out on top, tonight with an impressive all-around performance. Oxy shot an incredible 61% from the field as a team, knocking down 58% of their three-point attempts, while out-rebounding the Golden Eagles 50-26 as two players poured in more than 20 points and another pair recorded double-doubles.

Tigers Victorious in Home Opener
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Nov. 24, 2009) Oxy returned to the friendly confines of Rush gymnasium for the first time since the end of the 2009 season. Waiting for them were the very athletic Eagles, from the American Sports University, who started the game looking like they would to spoil the homecoming. But the patient and relentless attack of the Tigers eventually wore down the visitors as the host team cruised to a 75-51 victory.

Conti connects for 32 in Tigers' first win of season

(Nov. 20, 2009) After the opening the season with an exhibition versus a Division I school and a competitive game against an NAIA scholarship school, the Occidental College Tigers earned their first win of the young 2009-10 season behind a 32-point showing from Huston Conti as Oxy earned an 85-66 victory over West Coast Baptist College tonight.

Tigers come up short in season opener
AZUSA, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2009) After playing a strong Division I team at the University of San Diego in an exhibition game last weekend, the Occidental College mens basketball team began the regular season against the National Athletic Intercollegiate Association (NAIA) No. 24 ranked Azusa Pacific University Cougars on the road. Although Oxy led at the break, APU got the best of the Tigers in the second half, stealing a 74-57 win over Occidental at the Felix Event Center tonight.
