Compagno One Assist Shy of Triple-Double in Win

LOS ANGELESJoe Compagno was one assist shy of a triple-double, Andrew Johnson scored 23 points and the Occidental men's basketball team beat Shepherd University 81-73 at Rush Gym on Monday.

Compagno, a senior guard from Larkspur, scored 18 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out nine assists. He was a one-man offensive machine, going by defenders and then jump-stopping before setting up teammates for easy buckets.

The Tigers shot 53 percent from the field, their third game in a row shooting at least 50 percent.

Season Impact: Oxy moves to 8-2 on the season. Shepherd goes to 4-14.
