Whitman Leads Herzöge to Best Finish in Franchise History

Wolfenbüttel GERMANY (May 1, 2009) - Just over six months ago Connor Whitman stepped on the court for his fist professional basketball game as a starting point guard for the Herzöge Wolfenbüttel. Since that time his team has completed its 30-game schedule and with Oxy's former star guard leading the way, the Herzöge have performed so well that they are expected to move from the Pro B to Pro A league next year.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 16, 2009) Last week members of the 2008-09 Occidental College mens basketball program participated in Sports Day at the Arroyo Vista Elementary School, where Head Coach Brian Newhall '83 and his wife Amy Marcus-Newhall '84 have been active volunteers for five years.

Junior Sean Anderson landed on the First Team All-SCIAC while freshman Jack Hanley earned Second Team recognition.
REDLANDS, Calif. (Feb. 24, 2009) Entering the final contest of the 2008-09 regular season, the Tigers and Bulldogs both wanted to end frustrating seasons with a win. Both teams played hard, not giving an inch, and it came down to the final play as Redlands scored with 2.7 seconds left in regulation. Stealing the victory on a baseline inbounds play and notching the 63-62 victory.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 21, 2009) A slow start turned into a 10-point lead at the break and ended with a 67-54 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season home finale victory for the Tigers who defeated the University of La Verne tonight at Rush Gymnasium.
PASADENA, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2009) Occidental came out on fire tonight, jumping out to an 11-0 lead before the host Beavers battled to make it a tight game for the first ten minutes of the contest. But then an onslaught of interior scoring stretched the lead late in the half and the Tigers were never threatened again as they cruised to a road win at Caltech.

(Feb. 14, 2009) Occidental started hot, but the Poets quickly turned an eight point deficit into an advantage as they handed the Tigers a 64-49 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss and for all intents and purposes ended the Oxy hopes of advancing to the 2009 SCIAC Post Season Tournament.

(Feb. 11, 2009) Sadly, the prospect of the Tigers advancing to the 2009 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference mens basketball Post Season Tournament is slowly slipping away. Tonight Occidental was outscored 55-33 as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags held the black and orange to their lowest point total all season.

(Feb. 7, 2009) The stands were full and the atmosphere was that of a play-off game, but the Tigers could not hold onto a 39-32 halftime lead as they struggled in the second half, falling just short, 60-58, to the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens tonight at Rush Gymnasium in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference battle.
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (Feb. 4, 2009) In the first meeting of the season the Kingsmen pulled out a victory over Occidental College at Rush Gymnasium, and tonight they did the same at the Gilbert Arena for the first time since the gym was opened in 2006. Cal Lutheran used a 44-29 first half advantage to cruise to a 77-51 victory, handing the Tigers their third loss of the season in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 2, 2009) For the second time in as many weeks Sean Anderson was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week as voted on by the Sports Information Directors of the conference.
