LOS ANGELES — Jacki Hirsty, a swimming coaching veteran with 40 years of experience, joins the Occidental swim and dive programs as an assistant coach, Oxy head coach Steve Webb announced on Monday.
Hirsty has recently been an assistant coach at Assumption College from 2011-15, the head coach at Notre Dame HS in Worcester, Mass. from 2015-27, she worked the Navy Swim Camp in 2014, and has been a Head Masters Coach at the East Side Y (Rhode Island), Qunicy Y (Massachusetts), Newton JCC, Babson College, Boston College and MIT.
"We are thrilled to have Jacki join our staff," Webb said. "She has been coaching the sport of swimming for over 40 years, and has a great reputation in the swimming community. She is a technical specialist, and will help our student-athletes improve in a lot of areas."
Hirsty is still a very competitive swimmer and holds 42 FINA Masters World Records. She competes at the highest level of swimming and she just competed in the Masters World Championships in Budapest, Hungary last summer.
