Oxy Sweeps Doubles in Win Over Clark

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's tennis team won all three doubles matches on its way to a 6-3 win over Clark College at Scholl Canyon on Friday.

Oxy improves to 2-4 overall.

Clark falls to 2-7 on the season.

Josh Dancu/Avery Chernin beat Zack Goodstein/Dan Stein at No. 1 doubles, 8-2, Bryson Lee/Avery Howard took down Spencer Pinkey/Fernando Pinoargote at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, and Isa Kibira/Jesse Kreger defeated Josh Burger/Lenny Siegel at No. 3 doubles, 8-4.

From the Coach: "It was nice to get a win against a good team and even better that we did it with doubles wins," Oxy head coach Brian Newhall said. "We've had some good performances in singles so far this season and today we finally turned the corned in our three doubles matches."

Dancu, Lee and Chernin all won their singles matches too.

Dancu defeated Stein, 6-1, 6-3, improving to 4-2 at No. 1 doubles for the Tigers this season.

Chernin beat Pinkey at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-3, and Lee won at No. 4 singles against Goodstein, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Next Match: The Tigers return to action on Saturday against Hardin-Simmons at 10 a.m.
