Chernin Wins Two Against Lewis & Clark

LOS ANGELESAvery Chernin won a thrilling singles match at the No. 3-spot and also teamed up with Avery Howard at No. 2 doubles for a victory.

But the Occidental men's tennis team was edged by Lewis & Clark, despite winning the top three singles matches, 5-4 at Scholl Canyon on Saturday.

Chernin needed the super tiebreaker before he finally knocked off Daniel Hahm in a very competitive match, 7-6, 3-6, 11-9. Chernin and Howard beat Michael Brewer and Kevin Ross 8-5.

Josh Dancu, Oxy's No. 1 singles player, improved to 11-3 on the season with a win over Brewer, 6-3, 6-2. Dancu is currently ranked No. 10 in the West Region. 

Eric Kazangian had Oxy's other win, defeating Kevin Ross, 4-6, 7-5, 10-4.

The Tigers are currently ranked No. 13 in the West Region.

Next Match: Oxy begins a string of three remaining SCIAC road matches with Caltech on April 4 at 2 p.m.
