Men's Tennis Drops Home Opener

LOS ANGELES — First year Cameron Coe highlighted the Occidental men's tennis team's home opener with a win over Carter Pentz at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-1.

The Tigers fell to Linfield at Scholl Canyon on Tuesday, 7-2.

Oxy's other win came at No. 2 doubles when Trevor Brown and Erik Silverness defeated Tim Hawkins and Eric Rutherford, 8-4.

Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 0-2 on the season.

Linfield improves to 1-1.

Isa Kibira gave Trent Prussing a competitive match at No. 2 singles before falling 7-5, 6-2. Brown lost to Ben McNair at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4.

From the Coach: "We had some really hard-fought matches at our first home match of the season," first year Oxy head coach Ghia Godfree said. "Trevor was neck-and-neck with their No. 1 and it could have gone either way. I'm excited for Cameron Coe making a real impact with his singles win."

Next Match: The Tigers are back in action on Feb. 13, playing at Biola at 2 p.m.
