Tigers Cruise Past Principia For Another Win

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's tennis team cruised past Principia for its third win of the season, 8-1 on Monday.

The Tigers swept the doubles matches and took all but No. 1 singles.

Isaiah Bird led the way with wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. He beat Jules Kitchingman, 6-4, 6-3 and then teamed up with Cameron Coe for an 8-1 win over Kitchingman and Nat Kenworthy.

Coe won at No. 4 singles, beating Brody Swan, 6-1, 6-1.

William Poma beat Kenworthy, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3, Isa Kibira beat Dan Wagstaff, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Ivan Derrick beat Peter Griswold, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6, rounding out Oxy's singles victories.

Trevor Brown and Kibira took down Greg Sovie and Swan at the top doubles spot, 8-5 and Derrick and Vincent Bartholomew won easily at No. 3 doubles over Wagstaff and Griswold, 8-0.

Season Impact: Oxy has won back-to-back matches for the first time in more than two years, improving to 3-5 on the season.

Principia falls to 4-4.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday, playing Salisbury at 5 p.m.
