Salisbury Edges Oxy 5-4

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's tennis team took two of the three doubles matches, but couldn't keep the momentum going in the singles, falling to Salisbury 5-4 at Scholl Canyon on Wednesday.

Cameron Coe and Isaiah Bird teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles, beating Grant Hudson and Patrick MacLean, 8-5.

Ivan Derrick and Vinny Bartholomew beat Andrew Rainer and Garrett Malave for Oxy's other doubles win at No. 3, 8-2.

Will Poma won at No. 3 singles, beating Hudson, 6-2, 6-4 and Isa Kibira earned a victory over Rainger in a tiebreaker at the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 4-6, 7-6.

Season Impact: After a string of loses to some tough competition early in the season, Oxy is playing much better tennis. The Tigers have won two of their last four and now have an overall record of 3-7.

Next Match: Oxy is back in action on March 30 against Pacific Lutheran (WA) at 4 p.m.
