Newcomers Shined at Distance Carnival

LOS ANGELES - The Occidental men's and women's track and field teams hosted their annual Distance Carnival on Saturday, March 10. 

On the men's side, Oxy had some notable performances from newcomers.

First-years, Ibrahim Finch and Wes Armstrong, both hit impressive PR's in their throwing events. Finch threw 127'4" in the discus throw. Armstrong lived up to the name with a throw of 159' in his first ever javelin throw in competition. 

Sprinter Rio Chiba set a new PR in the 100m with a time of 11.17. Senior Ty Hranac won his heat of the 3000m Steeple Chase in 10:02 for his first ever attempt at the event.

Next meet: The tigers are back in action Friday, March 16th at the Redlands Invite.
