LA CROSSE, WIS. — Austin DeWitz raised the bar one final time to cap an outstanding junior year.
The two-sport standout finished his track and field season with an All-American honor in the high jump, clearing 6-09 for a sixth-place finish and 2.5 points for the Oxy men's track and field team at the NCAA Division III National Championship meet on Friday.
"Austin did a wonderful job of competing today and produced his best form when it mattered most," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "We couldn't be prouder of him and can't wait to watch him continue to develop as an athlete in 2018."
DeWitz adds the All-American honor to a trophy case that includes two SCIAC Championships in the high jump. He also earned First Team All-SCIAC and All-West Region honors this season with the Oxy men's basketball team.
The Oxy track teams have two performances left at the NCAAs on Saturday. Zach Greenleaf is in the pole vault at noon local time and LaShauna Porter runs in the 200m final at 2:50 p.m. local time. Jada Newkirk, Isabelle Dunne, Sabrina Degnan and Melissa Braun also competed at the Championship on Thursday.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
