REDLANDS — Four Occidental men's track and field athletes posted top 3 SCIAC marks at the Redlands Invitational on Friday.
Senior co-captains Andrew McCall and Austin DeWitz are both currently ranked No. 1 in the league in their respective events after big performances. McCall went 55.17 in the 400m hurdles and DeWitz, in his first outing of the spring, matched the conference-best height clearance of 6-6.75 in the high jump.
DeWitz is the reigning two-time SCIAC Champion and an All-American in the high jump. This was his first competition of the season after leading the Oxy men's basketball team to the SCIAC Championship game as a First Team All-SCIAC selection.
McCall is looking to return to All-SCIAC form in the 400m hurdles and potentially contend for the SCIAC crown.
Chris Rom-Toribio, also a senior co-captain, posted the second-best long jump of any SCIAC athlete this year, leaping 22-02.25 for a seasonal best.
Sophomore Eric Looby rounded out Oxy's top male performers with a collegiate record in the long jump at 22-0.25, which is third in the SCIAC this season.
