LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's water polo team fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 12-7 at Taylor Pool on Thursday.

The Tigers created offense, but had a rough shooting day, going 7 for 38.

"We played with high intensity throughout the game," Oxy head coach Jack Stabenfeldt said. "Unfortunately, we didn't have enough poise to execute during big moments in the first half. Our effort was there, but I'm disappointed with our lack of focus and attention to detail."

Alex Marlott and Nicolas Lipari had two goals, and Elijah Havens, Cian Concannon and Wilson Noll all had one for Oxy. Jason Teng finished with three assists.

William Clark and Christian Thornton each scored three goals to lead CMS.

The Tigers executed a beautiful timeout play in the second quarter. Teng hit Concannon in the post for a score, cutting the CMS lead to 7-4 before halftime.

Oxy's 5-man defense was solid when CMS was a man-up.

Season Impact: Oxy falls to 11-9 overall and 1-7 in SCIAC.

CMS improves to 12-5 overall and 7-0 in SCIAC.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Saturday at Pomona-Pitzer at 11 a.m. The Tigers play their Alumni games on Sunday and then their next home game on Oct. 27 against Chapman at 11 a.m.
