Oxy Celebrates Zim on Senior Day

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's water polo team came up short in an 18-10 loss to Whittier in the final Oxy men's water polo game at Taylor Pool on Wednesday.

The Tigers are expected to be competing in the brand new De Mandel Aquatic Center and Townsend Crosthwaite Pool next Fall.

Oxy celebrated its lone senior Alexander Zim with a brief pregame ceremony. Zim scored two goals, had one assist and on drawn exclusion.

As a center defender, Zim has been a key contributor since his first game at the Brown tournament in 2015. He's is a gritty defender and team's leader in shot blocks.

Beyond the pool, Zim is a successful student, double majoring in economics and physics while also minoring in mathematics. He plans to work in finance next year in New York City.

Elijah Havens had a pair of goals and an assist, and Cian Concannon, Joseph Cox, Jason Teng, Alex Marlott, Jasper Lee and Walter Sandbloom rounded out Oxy's scoring with a goal each. Henry Grady made seven saves and had one steal in goal for Oxy.

Eric Borunda scored a game-high four goals to lead Whittier. 

Next Game: Oxy is back in action with its final game of the season at La Verne on Saturday.
