LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (May 6, 2010) – To conclude her four-year athletic career at Occidental College, senior catcher and designated hitter, Alyssa Escalante was voted to the Second Team All-SCIAC for the third time.

Softball season ends with Saturday at La Verne
LA VERNE, CALIF. (April 24, 2010) – For the final time, three seniors donned the Black and Orange of Occidental College while the team took the field for the last time in 2010. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the University of La Verne cut things short in the first game, handing Oxy a five-inning 12-3 loss before the Leopards doubled up on the Tigers 4-2 in the season finale.

Tigers split with Cal Lutheran
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 23, 2010) – The Occidental softball team split a pair of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games to Cal Lutheran University on the road today. They won the first game 3-1 and were shut out the second game, 4-0.

Tigers swept on senior day
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 17, 2010) – In their final home series of the season, the Tigers were hoping to come up with a conference win against the number one ranked University of Redlands, but it wasn’t meant to be. The Black and Orange dropped both Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games to the Bulldogs; losing game one 8-3 and game two 9-0, in six innings.

Tigers split with Sagehens, snap losing streak
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 16, 2010) – Determined to snap their current conference play losing streak, the Tigers came out tough against Pomona-Pitzer College today and were able to come up with a much needed Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win. The Tigers shut out the Sagehens in game one 2-0, but were unable to hold on to game two, which they lost 4-1.

Athenas storm past Tigers
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 3, 2010) – Heavy winds swirled around Bell Field today, as the Tigers hosted Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference double header. The only thing stronger than the winds were the Athenas who blew over the Tigers 12-3 (in five innings) in game one and 10-0 (in five innings) in game two.

Tigers hang tough, but drop two to Whittier
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 2, 2010) – After giving up an early lead, the Tigers came crawling back within a point but were unable to pull through, allowing Whittier to hold on to game one 7-6 before handing the Black and Orange a tough 9-1 loss (in six innings) in game two of a double header at Bell Field on Friday.

Tigers shut out by Leopards
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 27, 2010) – Fresh off of back-to-back conference victories, the Tigers tried to keep their winning streak alive, but were unable to pull it off. The Black and Orange dropped two Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games against the University of La Verne at home. In game one, of the double header, Oxy fell to the Leopards 9-2. In the second game, they lost 8-0, in five innings.

Tigers sweep Regals in conference play
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 20, 2010) – It was an exhilarating day on the diamond as the Tigers edged out Cal Lutheran University in two Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games. The Black and Orange swept a double header against the Regals, it was the first pair of back-to-back SCIAC wins for the Tigers this season; they took game one 3-2 and game two, 6-5, in eight innings.

Tigers drop two conference games to bulldogs
REDLANDS, Calif. (Mar. 13, 2010) - The Occidental softball team traveled to Redlands today to play two Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games against the University of Redlands. In game one, the Tigers fell to the Bulldog’s 12-1, in six innings, and in game two, they lost 5-1.

Tigers drop two heartbreakers to Menlo
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 10, 2010) - It was a tough day for the Tigers as they dropped a set of hard fought games to Menlo College. The Tigers duked it out with the Oaks in game one, going 12 exhausting innings, only to fall 7-6. In game two, with a deficit early on, the Tigers tried to fight their way back to victory, but eventually lost 10-5.

Softball nabs first conference win of the season
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 8, 2010) - The Tigers won two and lost two this weekend, but not before grabbing their first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference win of the 2010 season. The Tigers took on Pomona-Pitzer College on Saturday, dropping game one, 9-1 and winning game two, 3-1. On Monday, Oxy hosted Wheaton College (Ill.), losing game one, 4-0 but coming back to win game two, 3-2.

Softball splits with Thunder
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. (March 07, 2010) – Last weekend’s games were washed away due to rain and the Tigers go back out on the diamond Saturday when they split a series with Pomona-Pitzer in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. Today, back in the friendly confines of Bell Field, the Tigers repeated that feat, winning the second game of a double-dip with non-conference Wheaton (Ill.) College.

Tigers swept by rivals in conference play
WHITTIER, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2010) – It was a tough day for the Tigers who dropped two Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games on the road to rivals Whittier College. The Poets were just too much for Oxy, taking game one, 13-4, in five innings; and shutting them out in game two, 9-0, in six innings.

Tigers pick up a split in non-conference action
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 14, 2010) – After losing two on the road just the day before, the Tigers were looking for redemption as they hosted a double header at Bell Field against La Sierra University. Oxy easily took game one, 7-3, but could not hold on to game two, falling to the Golden Eagles 3-0, in eight innings.

CLAREMONT, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2010) - The Tigers disappointed on the road, as they dropped a set of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletics Conference games to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. It wasn’t the conference play debut Oxy was hoping for; falling to the Athenas 10-2 (in five innings) in the first game and 3-2 in the second game.

Tigers softball splits on opening day
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 07, 2010) – It was a perfect day for a ball game. Skies were blue, the air was crisp and the sun was shinning down on Bell Field as Occidental College took on Patten University in their 2010 season opener. The Tigers barely lost game one, 6-5, but used an impressive comeback in the second to win 4-3 and earn an opening day split.

Softball set to slide into 2010
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 4, 2010) – One year after tying the school record for most wins in a season, while breaking a pair of individual season records, the Tigers return to the diamond enthused in 2010 with a renewed sense of accomplishment. Eleven student-athletes will suit up again this spring, coupled with seven incoming athletes, to make the squad the largest it has been in recent history. Occidental College softball strives to improve on the success the program has regained over the last couple of years.
