LOS ANGELES — With the help of another seventh inning rally, the Tigers managed to pull off a comeback, 5-4 win in Game 1 of their doubleheader against the George Fox Bruins.

The Tigers struck first with a 1st inning sacrifice fly from Alexis Funaki, bringing in Nyla Gatison who singled earlier in the inning.

Annie Veatch put George Fox in front with a third inning, three-run homer. The Bruins would go on to extend their lead in the sixth, putting them up 4-1 entering the seventh.

Down three, the Tigers led off the final inning with back-to-back base runners. With runners on first and third, Natalie Glover delivered a much needed single, driving in Kira Elliott, pulling Oxy within 2. Following a Madison Romero RBI groundout, Mackensie Priley drove in Glover to tie the game at 4.

After quick work by Funaki in the top half of the inning, the Tigers quickly loaded the bases for Melanie Ginther. Ginther, a first year from Tuscon, AZ, drew an impressive walk to bring in the game-winning run.

Glover led the way for the Tigers going 2-3 with a run and RBI. Priley and Ginther both finished 1-3 with an RBI.

Alexis Funaki got the win for the Tigers, picking up 4 strike outs in 8 innings of work. Abbie Bergerson pitched well for the Bruins, only allowing four runs through 7.1 innings.

The Tigers would go on to drop the second game of the series 15-2.

Season Impact: The Tigers finish Saturday 2-3-1 overall and look forward to a double header, tomorrow (2/11) against St. Katherine at Bell Field.
