LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's softball team's four-game winning streak was snapped with a pair of losses to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at Bell Field on Saturday.

Oxy had won four consecutive road games with sweeps at Redlands and Pomona-Pitzer.

Game 1: CMS 6, Occidental 1

Olivia Thayer continues to pitch well for the Tigers. She went 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, making it 8.2 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run.

Madison Romero went 2 for 3, Alexis Funaki was 1 for 2 with a double and walk, and Natalie Glover and Nyla Gatison each went 1 for 3 for Oxy.

CMS pulled away from the Tigers with a run in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Anna Gurr pitched well for the Athenas, earning the victory.

Game 2: CMS 7, Occidental 1

Nyla Gatison went 1 for 3 with Oxy's run, Cora Roberts was 1 for 3 and Bailey Stevens went 1 for 2 with a double.

Thayer pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, increasing her innings without an earned run streak to 10 innings in a row.

Chloe Amarilla pitched a complete game to earn the victory for the Athenas.

The Tigers had some fielding woes that led to a four-run third inning and put CMS securely in front.

Season Impact: The Tigers fall to 11-18-1 overall and 6-14 in SCIAC.

CMS improves to 24-10 and 13-9.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action on April 21 against Chapman.
