REDLANDS — Madison Romero and Bailey Stevens tore the cover off the ball and Alexis Funaki was nails in the circle, leading the Oxy softball team to a 7-1 win at Redlands in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday.
The Tigers rallied for four runs in the first inning, including a three-run homer by Stevens, who finished the game 2 for 4. She now has three home runs in four games after hitting a pair on opening day last weekend.
Romero went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored, a walk and an RBI.
The Tigers hit the ball well, totaling 12 hits as a team.
Funaki pitched all seven innings, allowing just one earned run.
Season Impact: Oxy gets its first win of the season, improving to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in SCIAC.
Redlands falls to 2-3 and 0-1.
