LOS ANGELESBailey Stevens continued her impressive year and career, adding another homer.

But the Occidental women's softball team fell short in its upset bid against Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.

The Tigers fell 11-0 in Game 1 and 12-6 in Game 2.

Stevens, a senior first baseman and catcher, hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to help cut the Sagehens' lead to 7-6. She finished the game 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

The Tigers were unable to add any more runs and Pomona-Pitzer extended its lead.

Stevens upped her career Oxy home run record to 22 and her season total seven, the third best total among SCIAC players. She's hitting .420 and has a slugging percentage of .753.

First year Oxy second baseman Alexandra Olkein also had a big game, going 2 for 4 with triple, two runs scored and an RBI. She went 1 for 3 in Game 1 along with Cora Roberts for Oxy's only two hits against some tough pitching by Liz Rodarte, who went all seven innings with six strikeouts.

Nyla Gatison, Drew Samson, Skylar Wuelfing and Cassie Carter also had hits in Game 2.

Season Impact: Oxy falls to 4-25 overall and 3-15 in SCIAC play.

Pomona-Pitzer improves to 22-7-1 and 14-4.

Next Game: The Tigers will play a road doubleheader at La Verne on April 12, beginning at 3 p.m.
