Throwers surpass personal bests at USC Invitational

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 20, 2010) – Today a handful of Tigers throwers made the short journey across the city to the Trojan Invitational hosted at the University of Southern California. Four of the seven competitors who participated returned to campus with personal best performances.

The men saw improvements from Juan German, Alex Bogrand and Kevin Hefner. German, a sophomore, hammer thrower ousted his previous personal best by a foot with a toss of 140’4”. Bogrand, a freshman, showed that he is certainly starting to understand the hammer a little better as he turned in a 10' improvement. Hefner, another freshman,  also made some big improvements in the javelin. Going into the meet he had a best distance of  136'07" and came away with a new personal  best of  141'1".

For the women, junior Elise Burger improved her hammer best distance by 18". Her mark of 126'10" places her seventh on the Oxy All-Time Top Ten List. Next time she competes she will be chasing the 6th best mark in Oxy history, which is 128'1".
