Oxy Cruises Past St. Katherine in Opener

LOS ANGELESRaveena Dhiman scored 20 points off the bench — including six 3-pointers — as the Occidental women's basketball team cruised past St. Katherine 74-57 in its season opener at Rush Gym on Saturday.

Mallory North and Alyssa Ramlochan also had big games, scoring double figures for Oxy. Ramlochan had 14 points and seven rebounds, and North had 14 points, four rebounds and four blocks.

Taylor Yoshida chipped in 10 points and six assists, Kulaea Tulua had eight points and six rebounds, and Chelsea Brooks had six points and six rebounds for the Tigers.

Keondra Smith led St. Katherine with 15 points.

The Tigers hit 11 3-pointers and shot 43 percent from the field.

"I was happy with our ball movement and the readiness to knock down shots," Oxy head coach Anahit Aladzhanyan said. "We were solid on offense and average on defense. Overall, it was a nice team win which we will learn from and build on as we prepare for back-to-back games next week."

Next Game: Oxy is back in action against Pacific (Ore.) at Rush Gym on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.
