LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's basketball team turned it on late, but an early deficit was too much to overcome in a 56-47 loss to Cal Lutheran at Rush Gym on Saturday.

Emily Leonard led Oxy with 12 points, eight rebounds and six blocks in all 40 minutes played, Raveena Dhiman added 10 points off the bench and Alyssa Ramlochan grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Natalie Ruhl led Cal Lutheran with 15 points, and Haley Tyrell added 12 points, nine rebounds and four steals.

Oxy struggled to get open looks at the basket as it fell behind 25-11 after the first quarter and 35-21 by halftime.

The Tigers outscored the Regals by four in the third quarter and played them even in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to get all the way back in the game.

Kulaea Tulua had five points and seven rebounds off the bench for Oxy, and Taylor Yoshida and Kaleinani Nallira added six points each.

Season Impact: Oxy falls to 7-8 overall and 1-5 in SCIAC.

Cal Lutheran improves to 7-8 overall and 4-2 in SCIAC.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Monday playing Whittier at 7 p.m. at Rush Gym. Oxy continues SCIAC play with another home game on Wednesday against Redlands at 7 p.m.
