THOUSAND OAKS — Katy Uchiyama is tied for 5th (83), Anna Kim is tied for 8th (84), and the Oxy women's golf team is currently third at the very competitive Regals Invite after one round at Sunset Hills on Monday.
Oxy trails only nationally-ranked Redlands and Whitman.
The wind was gusting up to 30-40 miles per hour which made club selection quite difficult as at times it was swirling as well.
"I am so proud of Katy. She had such a fine round today and under some very difficult conditions," Oxy head coach Will Morris said. "The course is extremely wet, so it played really long, and it was cold out there with strong winds throughout the round. Katy was solid throughout the adverse conditions and hit the ball consistently well."
Kim also played very well for the Tigers, but was held back by a balky putter.
"For Brianna to be in the top 8 with the troubles she had on the greens shows the potential she has," Morris said.
The Tigers return to Sunset Hills CC tomorrow for the second and final round of one of the West Coast's premier events.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
