LOS ANGELESBeebe Finch Sanders (Berkeley) tied the Occidental College women's lacrosse team's single-game record with five assists and was involved in all but one Oxy goal.

But the Tigers struggled on the draw and were plagued by turnovers in a 19-7 loss to No. 15 St. John Fisher College at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.

Finch Sanders tied Lauren Wemple's (Needham, Mass.) record set on March 20, 2012 against North Central (Ill.), setting up goal after goal.

The only Oxy (4-3) score that Finch Sanders wasn't involved in was a free position score by Mary Richardson (Marblehead, Mass.) with 41 seconds left.

At the beginning of the game, Finch Sanders even had the Tigers out in front briefly. The sophomore attacker assisted Isabel Osgood-Roach (Portland, Ore.) and Rebecca Belding (Burlingame), and then added a goal of her own, giving Oxy a 3-1 lead with 21:39 remaining in the first half. The Cardinal (2-0) quickly countered though with five unanswered, taking a 6-3 lead by the 15-minute mark.

Osgood-Roach scored the first goal of the second half with 24:28 to play, cutting the lead to 11-5, but St. John Fisher went on a 6-0 run to put the game out of reach.

The Tigers had just 10 draw controls to the Cardinal's 16 and turned the ball over 18 times.

Osgood-Roach and Belding led Oxy with two goals each.

Finch Sanders led the Tigers with three ground balls and Alessandra Quaroni (Austin, Texas), Haley Gandsey (Oakland) and Alida Beck (Portland, Ore.) all picked up two.

Taylor Hughes had four goals and four assists, and Melissa Leonhard had four goals for St. John Fisher.

Oxy hosts Haverford College on March 13 at 1 p.m. in another non-conference matchup.
