Oxy women's lax runs into another undefeated opponentBy Michael Wells Sports Information Director
LOS ANGELES — Five different Tigers scored, but the Occidental College women's lacrosse team ran into another quality team in an 11-5 loss to Fredonia State at Jack Kemp Stadium on Monday.
The Tigers (4-6) have lost four non-conference games in a row, but their opponents during that stretch came into Oxy with a combined record of 12-0 and one was nationally ranked.
Oxy was even with the Blue Devils (6-0) until Rachel Reinis, Katie Kleine and Marissa Cussins rattled off three consecutive goals for Fredonia, beginning with 7:59 to play in the first half, to take a 5-2 lead into the break. In the second, Fredonia added three more unanswered, putting the game away midway through the half.
Cussins had a game-high four goals.
Oxy hosts Oberlin College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Colorado College on Sunday at 1 p.m. in its final two non-conference games before returning to SCIAC play against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on April 6 at Jack Kemp Stadium.
