Tigers Knockout Boxers, Improve Record to 8-1

LOS ANGELES — Rebecca Belding was all over the field, Mary Richardson found teammates for scores and the Occidental women's lacrosse team's defense was solid as the Tigers beat up Pacific (Ore.) 14-4 at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.

The Tigers improve to 8-1 overall. Pacific (Ore.) falls to 5-7.

Belding had a game-high eight draw controls, including six in the first half to help the Tigers jump out to an 11-1 lead. She also added a pair of goals, two ground balls and an assist.

Oxy's back line — Mary Morrissey, Kristin Feinberg, Monica Rosenkranz, Emily Fowler and goalie Kirsten Hee — didn't allow a goal until April Lanz scored the first of her team-high three goals just after the 8-minute mark in the first half.

Hee played all 60 minutes, saving nine shots.

Richardson dished out four assists to go along with two goals for the Tigers.

Beebe Finch Sanders led the game with four goals for the Tigers.

Rebecca Reese cause two turnvoers and grabbed three ground balls off of the bench for Oxy.

Oxy returns to action on Sunday, hosting Colorado College at 11 a.m. in its final non-conference game of the season. The Tigers begin the second round of SCIAC play at Redlands (7-3, 4-1 SCIAC) on April 5 at 7 p.m.

With one round of conference play in the books, Oxy sits in first place at 5-0.
