Tigers Roll in Texas

GEORGETOWN, TexasSierra Slack and Lauren DiLella led 10 different Occidental players with points as the Tigers cruised past Southwestern (Texas) for a 23-5 road victory on Saturday.


Slack had four goals and three assists, DiLella had five goals and five assists and Ciara Byrne added four goals, one assist and a team-high three caused turnovers. Shai Goodman had three goals and two assists, Elizabeth Andrews added three goals, Alessandra Pelliccia had two goals, and Madisyn Hallare and Zoe Edwards each added one. Nicole Litt had two assists and Katy Black had one.

"It was a great team effort with balanced scoring and strong defensive play," Oxy head coach Stephanie Mark said. "Lauren played bigger than a freshman today and made the most of her opportunities, which was awesome to see."

Oxy forced Southwestern to go 7 for 14 on clears with great hustle in their ride.

The Tigers allowed just 10 shots on defense and won the draw 18-11.

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 2-0 on the season. In the Tigers' home opener last Wednesday they had the program's biggest margin of victory over Redlands, 19-12.

The Tigers have scored 42 goals in just two games.

Next Game: The Tigers return home to play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Jack Kemp Stadium.
