WHITTIER — The Occidental women's lacrosse team cruised past Whittier 20-3 for a big road victory on Wednesday.
Season Impact: The Tigers continue their hot start to the season, improving to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in SCIAC play.
Whittier falls to 0-4 and 0-4.
It's Oxy's fourth double-digit victory this season and the third time the team has posted 20 or more goals on the road. The Tigers scored 23 at Southwestern (Texas) and 21 at Chapman.
Oxy scored the first 11 goals of the game, putting the game out of reach quickly.
Ciara Byrne led the way with five goals, one assist, three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Madisyn Hallare was a big spark for the Tigers in the midfield, contributing all over the field with three goals, three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Alessandra Pelliccia was also good in the midfield, scoring three goals, with four ground balls and a career-high nine draw controls.
Oxy had nine players that contributed points. Sierra Slack had four goals, Marie Whitmore and Anna Calloway-Jones each had an assist, Elizabeth Andrews had a goal, Shai Goodman had two goals and as assist, and Lauren DiLella had a pair of goals and assists.
