Commerce - The Occidental men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued competition at the 2018 SCIAC swimming and diving championships on Thursday at the Brenda Villa Aquatic Center.
The meet began on Wednesday and runs through Saturday with preliminary events in the morning and finals sessions in the evening each day.
Numerous school records were broken on the men's side at day 2 of SCIAC's.
"It was a solid night all around but tomorrow is our best day for us" said Oxy head coach Steve Webb. "I call it moving day, because so many things can shift tomorrow from all the events. It's always nice breaking records, and hopefully their will be many more going down."
Zeke Sebastian and Matt Howard both broke the 500 free school record previously held by Dennis McMillan's time of 4:39.90. Sebastian finished with a time of 4:38.77 getting 3rd in the consolation final and Howard swam a 4:39.80 to get 5th in the consolation final.
Austin Lashley broke his own school record in the 50 free during prelims with a time of 20.77. Lashley finished the night in 7th with a time of 21.11.
Edward Dabsys moved up from his 9th seed in the 50 free to finish 5th overall in a time of 21.01.
Matthew Weiser dropped time in the consolation final of the 200 I.M to improve to 6th in the consolation final at a time of 1:56.07.
Madison Thurber got second in the consolation final with a time of 2:11.77.
Joan Kronick finished 6th in the consolation final with a lifetime best of 24.67.
