Dovey earns NCAA mark as SCIAC Championship conclude

LONG BEACH, Calif. (Feb. 23, 2010) – As the three day, 2010 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships came to a close, the Occidental College Tigers return to campus with a number of new school records, many personal bests and a sense of accomplishment.

Diving divas earn 1-2 finish, Tigers continue to set records
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Feb. 22, 2010) – It was a new day at Belmont Plaza, but the results were the same for junior diver Sarah Sharpe. Not only did she earn her second title of the weekend, but she set a new meet record and qualified for NCAA Nationals with a “B” cut in the process. Day two of the 2010 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships were just as exciting as the opening day.

Tigers make a splash on day one of 2010 Championships
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Feb. 21, 2010) – For the next three days the Occidental College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will compete at the 2010 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Belmont Plaza. A well rested squad will look to set some personal bests while sinking some school records in the process.

Sharpe dives to SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 17, 2010) – She has been flying through the air, somersaulting, twisting and entering the water with little to no splash all season. This week, transfer Sarah Sharpe’s efforts were recognized by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as she was named the Athlete of the Week for her performance at the 2010 Diving Preliminaries where she earned the No. 1 seed on both the one and three meter boards.

Sharpe wins 1-meter diving to sweep top spots
REDLANDS, Calif. (Feb. 14, 2010) – She entered day two holding onto the No. 1 seed in the 3-meter diving competition set to take place at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships next weekend in Long Beach, Calif. and today Sarah Sharpe wowed the crowd again as she earned a first place finish on the 1-meter board while teammate Marisa Pulcrano placed third to advance to finals.

REDLANDS, Calif. (Feb. 13, 2010) – As they have done all season long, the diving duo of Sarah Sharpe and Marisa Pulcrano soared higher and entered the water smoother than their competitors. At the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference diving preliminaries, hosted by Occidental College at the University of Redlands, Sharpe was the top finisher on the three-meter diving board, with Pulcrano right behind as the Top-8 athletes have qualified for the finals next weekend in conjunction with swimming SCIAC Championships at Belmont Park in Long Beach, Calif.

Senior send off for swimmers at Taylor Pool
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 6, 2010) – It was a rainy, cloudy, gloomy day, but the pool deck was full of six happy, smiling senior Tigers as they were introduced at Taylor Pool for the final time of their respective collegiate careers prior to Occidental’s final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual-meet of the season. Both Oxy teams fell to Pomona-Pitzer, but not without some notable performances.

Tigers win every event in SCIAC victory over Caltech
PASADENA, Calif. (Jan. 30, 2010) – The Occidental College women’s swimming and diving teams combined to sweep all 13 events, going 1-2 in four events, at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual-meet with Caltech today on the road. The Black and Orange defeated the Beavers 145-85.

Athenas, Stags swim past Tigers
CLAREMONT, Calif. (Jan. 23, 2010) – Against the undefeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams, the Occidental College teams turned in a number of decent swims and earned a few first place finishes, but were out numbered and out scored by the Athenas and Stags, 169-68 and 176.5-58.5, respectively today on the road.

(Dec. 4, 2009) – It was the season home opener and the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener today when the Occidental College swimming & diving teams hosted California Lutheran University at Taylor Pool. While the Tigers came up short to the Regals, 96-130, the women’s team showed promise and earned a few first place finishes in the 26-event meet.

Swimming and Diving releases 2009-10 schedule
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 1, 2009) – Under new leadership for the first time in nearly two decades, the Occidental College swimming and diving teams will look to rebuild a program that was once atop the conference standings. The 12-date winter schedule was released today by first-year head coach Alex Kuhn who joined the black and orange over the summer with a dual-role as the Aquatics Director.

(Feb. 14, 2009) – For the third straight day swimmers packed the Belmont Plaza Pool where the eight Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams met for the 2009 Swimming and Diving Championships. Tonight there were three school records broken and one NCAA “B” cut time achieved as the Tiger women finished fourth and the men came in fifth.
