Subbiah, Cassman earn All-SCIAC honors

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 5, 2010) – Another exciting finish to the women’s tennis Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s tennis season was punctuated with two familiar Tigers being recognized as the best in the conference. Marissa Cassman ends her Oxy career with her third straight All-SCIAC Second Team award, while Kris Subbiah was named to the First Team for the second straight year.

Tigers conclude SCIAC season
CLAREMONT, Calif. (May 2, 2010) – Yesterday the men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season at the 2010 championships hosted by the University of La Verne at Pomona-Pitzer’s Strehle Track. While injuries and illnesses limited the Tigers’ on the final weekend of the season, resulting in disappointing third and sixth place finishes for the women and men, respectively, the teams competed extremely hard and left with numerous personal bests and Oxy All-Time marks.

Tigers lose a nail biter to the Athenas
WHITTIER, Calif. (April 17, 2010) – Oxy sprinted out to a 3-0 lead in the third place dual match at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. Rolling through doubles, and putting Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in a huge hole going into singles. But the Athenas rallied, winning five of six, to take home third place with a 5-4 win.

Tigers advance to SCIAC semifinals
WHITTIER, Calif. (April 16, 2010) – Oxy opened up the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament with a 5-2 win over Cal Lutheran. The upset of the fourth seeded Regals, a squad that had knocked off the Tigers earlier in the year, set up a semifinal showdown with Pomona Pitzer. The Tigers came up short against the undefeated and top seed Sagehens, being swept 9-0.

Black and Orange extend winning streak
PASADENA, Calif. (April 10, 2010) – The Tigers picked up another win this morning, traveling to Caltech to hand the host Beavers a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss, by the final score of 9-0. The win also extended their current winning streak to three, giving them momentum, as they head into the SCIAC conference tournament this coming weekend.

Tigers pick up back-to-back wins
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (April 8, 2010) – The Black and Orange picked up a convincing non conference victory over the La Sierra Golden Eagles. After snapping out of a losing streak with a win over the University of La Verne, the Tigers continued to build momentum as they head towards the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament with another victory, this one by the final score of 9-0.

Tigers snap streak with win over Leopards
LA VERNE, Calif. (April 2, 2010) – Riding the wrong end of a three match streak, the Black and Orange stormed ahead of the Leopards in a road dual match, and never looked backed as they cruised to a 8-1 win. In their first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match since February, Oxy looked sharp from start to finish as they won 8 straight matches en route to the victory over the University of La Verne.
