Oxy Finishes NCAAs With Four All-Americans

LA CROSSE, Wis. — The Occidental men's and women's track and field teams finished their strong showing at the NCAA Division III National Championship meet with a combined four All-American awards. 

Zach Greenleaf finished eigtht in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-09, Jada Newkirk finished eighth in the 100m with a time of 12.28 and LaShauna Porter finished eighth in the 200m with a time of 25.34 on Saturday.

High jumper Austin DeWitz cleared 6-09 on Friday for a sixth-place finish.

The top eight athletes in each event are named All-Americans.

"Today was a great day for the Oxy team as all three of our finalists earned All-American honors in their respective events," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "The eight Tigers that represented our program here in La Crosse all competed hard and we couldn't be prouder of them."

Melissa Braun, Isabelle Dunne and Sabrina Degnan also represented Oxy at the NCAAs.

"Although this season is now over, we're already looking forward to building on these successes and bringing even more Tigers to nationals in 2019," Bartlett said.
