THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — For the second consecutive day, the Occidental College women's volleyball team was perfect at the Posada Invitational Tournament.

The Tigers (4-1) topped George Fox in the first game 25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 25-23 and swept Chapman University in the second 25-15, 25-23, 25-20.

The pair of victories makes it four in a row for the Tigers and an undefeated weekend at the Cal Lutheran tournament.

Gwynne Davis and Kasey Rose combined for 17 kills to help Oxy fend off a resilient George Fox team that wouldn't go away in the first game.

"The best part was that we kept battling and kept battling," Occidental College coach Heather Collins said. "The first match went a little longer than we expected. (George Fox) kept coming back, but we stayed strong."

Jessie Altman racked up 46 assists in a well-played volleyball game with few errors on either team.

"Jessie has been running really good offense and was moving the ball around really well," Collins said.

Oxy got another key performance from Katie Wiese and their middle blockers, according to Collins.

Logan Boyer-Hayse had 17 kills and had a .394 hitting percentage in the second win over Chapman. Rose added 14 and Madyson Cassidy had 14 digs.

Oxy heads to Trinity, Texas next weekend for another four-game weekend. They open with host Trinity at 2:15 p.m. and Southwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, then take on St. Thomas and Texas Lutheran on Saturday.

Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play for the No. 23 Tigers starts on the road against No. 8 Cal Lutheran on Sept. 20.
