Strohm Records 14 Kills Against ULV

LOS ANGELESClaire Strohm recorded 14 kills on .367 hitting, but the Occidental women's volleyball team fell against La Verne at Rush Gym on Saturday, 25-15, 25-22, 25-22.

Strohm, an All-SCIAC selection last year, is among the best outside hitters in the conference, currently sitting at ninth in kills per set.

Oxy falls to 4-8 overall and 1-3 in a very challenging SCIAC.

La Verne improves to 9-4 and 3-2.

The SCIAC currently has the No. 2 and No. 4 teams in the nation, including last year's defending national champion.

Strohm had help on offense from Amanda Herold with eight kills, Cassandra Guidice with seven and Hannah Wagner with six. Sabrina Degnan led the Tigers with 16 digs and Tiareh Cruz had 30 assists.

Delaney Lynch led La Verne with 14 kills and Kelsi Robinson added 10.

After struggling through the first set, Oxy was much more competitive in Games 2 and 3.

Oxy is back in action on Tuesday at No. 4 Cal Lutheran at 7 p.m.
