Tigers Split in Pacific Coast Classic

CLAREMONTAllie Sundara dished out 28 assists as the Occidental women's volleyball team made it six sets and two matches in a row with a 3-0 win over MCLA at the Pacific Coast Classic in Claremont on Saturday.

The Tigers fell in the the second match of their doubleheader 3-0 against Bethel.

Amanda Herold led Oxy with eight kills and nine digs, and Claire Strohm and Corrie McKee each had six as Oxy won each set easily, 25-9, 25-15, 25-10.

Hannah Wagner had a team-best seven kills against Bethel in the second match.

Oxy is off to a 2-1 start. The Tigers won their season and home opener against St. Katherine 3-1 on Friday afternoon. Oxy dropped the first set, but won three straight and used its momentum to win three more the next morning.

The Tigers spend the next two weekends playing in out-of-state tournaments. Oxy plays four matches at Austin College in Sherman, Texas on Sept. 8-9 and two more the following weekend in Cedar Rapids at Coe College on Sept. 16.
