LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's volleyball team is gearing up for its final home match of the season and senior night on Saturday against Caltech at 4 p.m. The Tigers will be celebrating and saying goodbye to four players.
#5 Allie Sundara - Setter/opposite hitter
Allie Sundara was one of the three captains this year for the Tigers. The senior from Carpinteria, CA has played in 21 of the 22 games this season. She had a season high 38 assists in the season opener against Union College (N.Y.) in the Pacific Coast Classic in Pomona. Over the course of three seasons at Oxy the Allie has played 70 matches and has recorded 178 kills and has racked up 966 assists. She has also been solid from the service line. Over her career she has had 65 aces with 26 coming this year. Allie will be graduating in the spring with a degree in economics.
From Coach Collins: Allie has played everything from outside to opposite to setter. She truly is versatile and ready to play wherever the coaches need her. Her competitive drive shines through immensely.
#12 Michelle St. Louis - Defensive Specialist
Michelle St. Louis is a senior from Dallas, Texas. She has been with the Tigers for the past two seasons and has seen action in 21 matches over that time. As a junior played in a career-high 12 matches and this year she has appeared in nine. In a September 11th matchup against West Coast Baptist, Michelle recorded three service aces. She will be graduating this spring with a degree in economics
From Coach Collins: Michelle has been the spark plug for our team. We are so fortunate that she transferred to Oxy and brought such an amazing work ethic, fun personality and competitive attitude! Her hustle is unmatched on the court and she excels defensively.
#18 Sabrina Degnan - Opposite Hitter/Defensive Specialist
Sabrina Degnan was one of the captains this year for the Tigers. Over the course of four years Sabrina has played in 90 matches, recorded 441 kills, 79 assists, 62 service aces, 764 digs and has been responsible for 524 of the Tigers points. The senior from Atascadero, CA has been one of the Tigers best players this year. She has 236 kills which is the 10-best in the SCIAC. Degnan recorded 17 kills in a October 9th 3-0 win against St. Katherine University with a hitting percentage of .410. Sabrina will be graduating with a degree in Psychology.
From Coach Collins: Sabrina has led by example since day one. Whether she is in the weight room, on the court or setting high standards in the classroom, she truly embodies it all. She has transformed herself from a backrow specialist to a starting six rotation outside hitter, all the while leading our team academically and as a captain.
#20 Hannah Wagner - Outside Hitter
The last of the senior class is captain Hannah Wagner. Hannah transferred to Occidental in 2016 after spending one year at Leigh University. She made an immediate impact her sophomore season. The senior from Bainbridge Island, WA played in all 25 matches in 2016 obtaining 232 kills and 34 service aces. This past season she has been one of Occidental's deadly hitters. Through 21 matches this year she has 148 kills, 23 aces and 115 digs. Hannah will be graduating with a degree in Cognitive Science.
From Coach Collins: We are blessed to have had Hannah transfer to Oxy three years ago. She has matured so much as a player and has become such a well-rounded outside hitter with a strong attack, fierce serve, and strong work ethic.
