Oxy Sweeps Caltech on Senior Day

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental women's volleyball team swept Caltech 3-0 on senior day to close out the 2018 season.

Set Scores: 25-13, 25-21, 25-16

Sabrina Degnan led Oxy with 11 kills, Taylor Gorretta had 10, Lauren Duffy had four blocks and Allie Sundara had 27 assists. 

Oxy celebrated the careers of Degnan, Sundara, Hannah Wagner and Michelle St. Louis with a brief pregame ceremony.

Degnan finishes her career as a very good volleyball player and will continue her ahtletic career as one of Oxy's all-around best athletes. The outside hitter from Atascadero had 466 kills and 788 digs in 92 matches in her career. She's also the school record holder, a SCIAC Champion and national qualifier in the javelin, along with other throwing accomplishments for the Oxy women's track and field team.

Hannah Wagner finishes her three-year career at Oxy with 574 kills and 477 digs in 73 matches. The outside hitter from Bainbridge, Wash. transfered to Oxy after her first season at NCAA Division I Lehigh and quickly became one of Oxy's most dangerous hitters.

Allie Sundara has been both a hitter and setter for the Tigers in her career. For the past two seasons she's racked up the assists, surpassing 1,000 for her career against the Beavers. The Carpinteria native finishes her career with 1,014 assists, 65 service aces and 182 kills in 72 matches over three seasons.

Michelle St. Louis played in 31 matches over two seasons with the Tigers after transfering from UMASS-Boston. In limited opportunities she was good from the service line this season, totaling seven aces. She is an economics major from Dallas, Texas. 

Oxy finishes the season at 8-16 overall and 3-13 in SCIAC play.
