LOS ANGELES — Dean Abramson did a little bit of everything and the Occidental baseball team rallied in the seventh inning to beat Dickinson 6-4 at Anderson Field in Game 1 on a non-conference doubleheader on Friday.
Abramson, a senior utility player from El Segundo, started the game and pitched the first two innings before Oxy starting catcher Jared Baur had to leave the game due to injury. Abramson, the team's back up catcher, moved behind the dish where he caught the next seven innings. He also had an RBI-single, a sacrifice bunt, got hit by a pitch, got caught stealing second and was robbed of throwing out a runner at second on a close call.
Oxy struck first and opened up a 3-1 lead with a run in each of the first three innings. Dickinson evend it at 3-3 in the fifth with a pair of runs.
Netzel, who also earned the save in the ninth, went 2 for 3 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk. Jack Brancheau went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Bryan Smith was 2 for 4 with a run scored, and Fredrickson finished 2 for 4 with a run and a pair of RBIs.
Oxy improves to 10-7 on the season.
