Netzel Named to Team of the Week

LOS ANGELESMichael Netzel is back from injury and starting to return to form.

The key reliever and designated hitter was named to the Team of the Week on Tuesday after hitting .600 last week with a pair of home runs, a double and four RBIs.

Netzel also pitched for the first time this season against Puget Sound, throwing one scoreless inning. He had a 2.25 ERA in 15.1 innings pitched last season with a pair of saves.

Netzel is the second Oxy baseball player to earn Team of the Week honors this season. Jack Brancheau was recognized earlier this season.

The Tigers are coming off blowout wins over Bowdoin and Puget Sound, and are all set to return to SCIAC play this weekend, starting with a home game against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday at 3 p.m. Oxy and CMS will finish their series with a doubleheader at CMS on Saturday.

Oxy's next game is against Principia on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Oxy is 14-4 overall and on top of the SCIAC at 3-0.
