SANTA CLARITA — The Occidental men's basketball team played The Master's University closely for the first 30 minutes of its first exhibition game of the season on Saturday, but couldn't hang on in the final 10 minutes, falling 73-55 on the road.
Adler, a junior guard from Portland, Ore., had a game-high 25 points on 6 for 15 shooting, including 5 for 7 from beyond the 3-point line.
Yellin-Flaherty, a 6-foot-5 senior from New York, had 19 points on 7 for 13 shooting, including 3 for 4 from three.
Dargan and Dosa didn't score quite like Adler and Yellin-Flaherty, but both played good defense. Dargan went up against 6-foot-11 center Tim Soares for most of the evening and Dosa was important to Oxy's team offense and defense.
Oxy first year guard Sydney Shipp scored five points off the bench and was active on defense, first year forward Evan Dray had three points and two rebounds, and first year guard Sohan Kshirsagar made his first start and was solid and smart at both ends of the court.
Soares led The Master's with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Master's is a highly-ranked NAIA scholarship school.
The Tigers were without co-captain and senior guard Ryan Kaneshiro, who missed the game with an injury. Kaneshiro led all of NCAA Division III in assist to turnover ratio in 2018-19.
Oxy is coming off a 22-6 season, including a run to the SCIAC Championship game.
Oxy opens the regular season at home against Yeshiva on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 8:30 p.m.
