SAN DIEGO — It took 105 minutes before NCAA Division II UC San Diego got the goal it needed to edge the Occidental men's soccer team in a non-conference thriller on Sunday.

Oxy gave the No. 23-ranked squad a run for its money before Andy Sartor hit a 25-yard shot for the golden goal.

Nicolas Eble hit the post with a shot at the end of the first overtime that would have won the game for Oxy. Eble hit a right-footed rocket from 35 yards out that clanked off the upper-right corner of the goal just before the whistle blew to end the first 10-minute segment.

The Tigers played the night before, beating Caltech 4-0 to move up in the SCIAC standings to fourth place. Oxy is 5-3 overall and 3-2 in SCIAC.

Oxy returns to SCIAC play at La Verne on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
