Five Tigers Compete at the ITA Fall Tournament

CLAREMONT — Oxy No. 1 Josh Dancu led five Occidental College men's tennis players competing in the Fall ITA Tennis Tournament at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this past weekend, winning two matches for the Tigers.

Dancu advanced two rounds before losing to CMS' No. 2 Joe Dorn.

"Josh Dancu is getting better and better in his second year," Oxy coach Brian Newhall said. "He made some noise as a Second Team All-SCIAC performer last year and we expect him to only improve on a solid first season."

Kevin Siebs was the other Tiger to earn a singles victory, defeating Redlands' Teddy Jones in the consolation bracket.

Sophomore Avery Howard and freshman Trevor Brown made up Oxy's only competing doubles team.

"Overall, it was a great weekend for Oxy tennis," Newhall said. "Five of our guys got to play against some tough competition and this was a good test of where we're at just a few months away from the season."
