Oxy Water Polo Goes 2-2 at Gary Troyer Tourney

CLAREMONT — The Occidental men's water polo team went 2-2 at the Gary Troyer Tournament in Claremont over the weekend. Oxy beat Penn St.-Behrend and Connecticut College, and lost to McKendree and Fordham.

Game 1: Forham 12, Occidental 8

Cian Concannon and Elijah Havens led Oxy with three goals each in a losing effort. Alexander Zim and Jason Teng rounded out Oxy's goal scorers with a goal each.

Ian Watson led Fordham with four goals.

The Tigers fell too far behind early, trailing 5-1 after the first quarter. 

Game 2: Occidental 20, PSU-Behrend 3

The Tigers erupted for their biggest offensive output of the season in an easy victory.

Wilson Noll led the way with five goals, Teng added three and Nicolas Lipari, Concannon, Walter Sandbloom and Havens each added two.

Game 3: McKendree 9, Occidental 6

McKendree broke up an even first half with a 5-2 edge in the second half for the win.

Teng and Lipari scored two goals each, and Concannon and Alex Marlott each scored one.

Ben Brauer led McKendree with three goals.

Game 4: Occidental 15, Connecticut College 10

Havens and Jasper Lee each scored four goals as Oxy's offense got hot again to close out the weekend with a win.

Teng and Zim added two goals each, and Luke Boyer, Sandbloom and Marlott all scored one.

Mike Gertsik led Connecticut College with three goals.

Oxy rode the momentum of a 5-0 first quarter and never looked back. 

Season Impact: The Tigers record goes to 9-6 overall on the season. 

Next Game: Oxy is back in action with a home game against Washington and Jefferson on Monday at 4 p.m. at Taylor Pool.
