NEW ORLEANS — On Wednesday afternoon the National Coaches Poll was released for both Men's and Women's Cross Country.

The Occidental Men's Cross Country team received their first national ranking of the 2018 season by getting the 35th spot. Additionally they currently sit in the fourth spot in the west region behind Pomona-Pitzer, UC Santa Cruz, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

The Women's team also sits in the fourth spot in the west, a three spot jump from the preseason poll that was released at the end of August. They are currently chasing Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (1), Pomona-Pitzer (2) and Colorado College (3) for the top spot in the west region.

"We're excited to receive recognition from the coaches association regional and national rankings this week, but know there's a long way to go in the season still and a lot of work to be done" said Coach Robert Bartlett.

Both the Men's and Women's team are coming off a victory against La Verne and a loss to Pomona-Pitzer that took place in their first meet at Pomona-Pitzer. The two teams will be traveling to Riverside this weekend to compete in the UC Riverside Invite. The race begins at 7:30 AM.
