Oxy Men Place 7th of 39 at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio — The Occidental men's cross country team had three runners in the top 50 against highly-ranked competition at the Oberlin Inter Regional Rumble on Saturday morning.

Oxy finished 7th overall out of 39 teams, including many that will compete at the NCAA Division III Nationals. A large number of the teams competing are ranked in the top 25 nationally.  

Matt Scarlett led the way for Oxy, placing 32nd overall with a time of 25:22.1 in the 8K. Tim McClure was 44th at 25:41 and Charles Sheh was 47th at 25:44.8.

Thomas Robertson finished 52nd at 25:48.8 and Conor Brennan was 107th at 26:21.9, rounding out Oxy's five scorers. 

"I'm really proud of how both teams performed today," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "We raced confidently and achieved our goals of beating some teams that had been nationally ranked."

Next Meet: Oxy hits the meat of its season, beginning with the SCIAC Championships on Nov. 2 at Prado Park. The NCAA West Regional is Nov. 16 and then the NCAA Divsion III Nationals are in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 23.
