Oxy Finishes Season Against Pomona-Pitzer


LOS ANGELESTaylor Yoshida and Emily Leonard led the Occidental women's basketball team with standout performances in the final game of the season against Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.

Yoshida scored 19 points on 7 for 12 shooting, including 3 for 3 from the free throw line and 2 for 3 from beyond the three-point line.

Oxy hung with a very good Pomona-Pitzer squad until late in the third quarter when the Sagehens began to pull away, winning 78-59.

Emily Leonard came up big on the glass for Oxy with 16 rebounds, including four on offense and 12 on defense. She also had an incredible seven blocks, five assists and no turnovers.

Raveena Dhiman chipped in 13 points, and Leonard and Kaleinani Nallira each added seven points.

Madison Quan led the Sagehens with 20 points.

Season Impact: Oxy finishes the year at 7-18 overall and 1-15 in SCIAC play.

Pomona-Pitzer goes to 20-5 and 14-2 overall, advancing to the SCIAC Tournament.
