SAN MARCOS — The Occidental women's soccer team kept the defense and winning rolling with a 6-0 rout at Saint Katherine on Saturday.

Caroline Kearney, Berkli Maningo, Alexandria Yawata, Meredith Cook, Chiara Serafini and Kyra Bethune all scored for the Tigers.

The Tigers' defense recorded its second shutout of the year and now has 14 shutouts in 20 games dating back to the beginning of last season.

Oxy's offense scored two goals in the first half and four in the second.

"It took us some time to get going, but over the 90 minutes, getting nine newcomers significant minutes and having six different scorers was pleasing and will help build confidence," Oxy head coach Colm McFeely said.

Oxy has continued its momentum from its best season in program history, first NCAA playoff appearance and first SCIAC Tournament Championship last year.

Season Impact: The Tigers move to 2-0 on the season.

Saint Katherine falls to 1-4.

Next Game: The Tigers have a neutral site contest against a solid Whitworth squad on Sunday at Cal Lutheran at 10 a.m. Oxy will play its first home contest of the season against Saint Katherine on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
