CLAREMONT — Two rookies and two veterans had standout performances for the Occidental men's and women's track and field teams at the annual Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet as the Tigers continue to improve early in the season.
First year sprinter Emma Yudelevitch ran Oxy's sixth best 100-meter in school history, crossing the line in 12.42 seconds. She passed the great Jacqui Dent's Oxy best of 12.47. Kristen Stuart holds the school record at 12.06.
Yudelevitch's teammate Sabrina Degnan continues to impress in throwing events, setting personal records in the hammer (108-05), javelin (102-05) and shot put (34-11.25).
For the men, two-time All-American sophomore Gabriel Barrett-Jackson set a personal record in the 100m with an 11.01. Last season Barrett-Jackson was a member of Oxy's All-American 4x100m relay team and also an All-American in the 400m.
Men's thrower Andrew Clarey set a personal record in the hammer with a 138-06.
From the Coach: "Saturday was a solid second meet for the team," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "We're in the middle of a tough block of training so for some folks to record lifetime bests is particularly impressive."
