LA VERNE — Emma Yudelevitch won the 100m and 200m, Sabrina Degnan was outstanding in four throwing events and Chloe Hoeber cleared 5-2.75 in the high jump for the fourth best effort in program history, leading the Occidental women's track and field team to a pair of wins over Caltech and La Verne on Saturday.
The Tigers beat La Verne, 110-48 and Caltech, 140-9.
Yudelevitch ran the 100m in 12.5 seconds and the 200m in 26.27.
LaShauna Porter was second to Yudelevitch in the sprints, running the 100m in 12.67 and the 200m in 26.61.
Degnan won the javelin (115-05.25) and shot put (34-09.50), and took second in the discus (119-10.75) and hammer (126-09.25).
In the distance events, Aria Blumm won the steeplechase by more than 1 minute (12:07.25) and the Tigers went 1-2-3 in the 5k. Mel Devoney won the the race (19:20.42), followed by Fiona Pedrick (19:44.86) and Karin Uzawa (20:20.07).
"It's an excellent start to the SCIAC season with two wins," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "It was all about getting the snowball rolling downhill and now its about making sure it keeps going downhill."
